Are you a local business owner, overwhelmed by the world of online marketing? After working with a variety of local businesses to help them turn their online marketing into paying customers, I’ve come to realize that it really boils down to three things (regardless of an ever changing algorithm). In this episode we break it down in depth and give you some examples to help spark your own ideas!
So here are the three things that all successful marketing strategies have.
Consistency – The businesses that are consistent with their marketing are the businesses that stay top of mind. If you haven’t prioritized your social media or email recently, it’s never too late to start. Be patient when you start getting consistent right away. Commit to at least 60 days of getting consistent and then analyze what happens and adjust. I guarantee you’ll be in a more optimal spot than you are today.
Content focused on serving your audience – When creating content ask yourself, “How can I serve my audience?” Your content should be about them and not you. This episode has a ton of ideas from local businesses that I currently help, so be sure to listen for inspiration!
Personal Connection – The top performing posts every single time for my clients are the ones that show the people behind the business. Your local business is special because you have connections with the community that no one else has. Take advantage of it. Show your staff, yourself, and behind the scenes to strengthen connections with your audience. People buy on emotion and will buy from the brands they feel connected to.
Your marketing is a marathon, not a sprint. I’ve created a free resource for you below if you’re feeling overwhelmed or want to make sure you’re spending your time in the right places in your marketing. This guide will walk you through how to set up your marketing system in just one day, so you can start practicing all the things we discussed in this week’s episode!
Until next time, Marathoners, since you are all now part of the Marathon Marketing & Branding family, keep running your race!

Hi friends! My name is Sydney, founder of Marathon Marketing & Branding, and I’m so happy you’re here! As you might have guessed, I am an avid runner, which allows me to have more of that pinot and pasta in life. Running long-distance is all about training, endurance, and consistency. I realized that these same traits are directly applicable to social media marketing as well.
